Henry Gogarty Secondary School

In addition to running a hospital, Sister Clarissa also had the idea of creating an all-female secondary school for the best and brightest female students in Tanzania to receive the best education possible in the hopes that many would go on to post-secondary education and become important players in the future of Tanzania. That vision has taken the form of Henry Gogarty Secondary School locates right next to the hospital under construction. Even though we arrived on a Sunday, since this school hosts girls from all over Tanzania most of the population lives in dorms so there were several hundred students present to give us a grand welcoming. There was much signing, dancing and celebration for a few hours followed by a light lunch before we departed.
